Frequently Asked Questions

I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Golden Rule, Optum, Oxford, United Healthcare, and United Medical Resources (UMR) to provide telehealth nutrition counseling in the states of AZ, CA, CO, MI, NJ, and VA. I also accomodate out-of-network benefits and self-pay upon request. For out-of-network, you are welcome to contact your healthcare insurance provider directly to find out if they offer any out-of-network benefits for seeing a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Sometimes they ask for a CPT Code. The one I usually use for Medical Nutrition Therapy is 97802 or 97803. If your plan offers out-of-network benefits, then upon request after your appointment we can provide you with a bill (called a Superbill) with appropriate medical coding in hopes that your insurance may reimburse you for nutrition services. To verify your in-network benefits, visit my online booking site here.

The out-of-pocket-fee will be $150.00 for your first appointment and $75.00 for 30-minute follow-up appointments. To make my nutrition services more accessible, I accept HSA and FSA payments and also offer discounted packages for self-pay clients. You can view fees for individual appointments and packages by clicking here.

While working together, we will be using Practice Better, an easy-to-use web and mobile platform that allows you to connect with me and track your care while we work together. All of your information is secure and private, as Practice Better is HIPAA-compliant.

Here are some of the features we can share with Practice Better

  • Easily complete all of your paperwork, intake forms, and assessments digitally.

  • Schedule or modify appointments, and see any upcoming sessions we have booked.

  • Stay connected between appointments using secure chat.

  • Upload and share documents, like lab reports, handouts, and other materials.

  • Access to a food log with customizable settings, including the option to turn off calorie counting. Take pictures of your food, track your mood, log exercise, and more.

  • Set goals and monitor them to help you stay on track.

  • View invoices and seamlessly pay your bills.

Every person has varying needs in nutrition counseling. At the Initial Nutrition Assessment (your first appointment), we will assess if you would benefit from follow-up appointments and determine the optimal frequency for your visits.

For Eating Disorder Recovery or Pediatric Feeding Therapy we will typically meet more frequently (weekly or bi-weekly) in the beginning stages and then taper off as you progress.

For other health issues/concerns or general nutrition counseling, our sessions may be spread out over a longer period of time. To boost motivation and sustainability, I usually recommend the Initital Nutrition Assessment (your first appointment) is followed by an appointment in two-weeks, and then an appointment in one-month. From there, some people like to continue with monthly check-ins and others will check-in every 6 months or as needed.

Regardless of your individual needs, we will work together to create a nutrition plan that works best for you and/or your family.

All registered patients easily complete all of their paperwork, intake forms, and assessments digitally using Healthie, an easy-to-use web and mobile platform that allows you to connect with me and track your care while we work together. All of your information is secure and private, as Healthie is HIPAA-compliant.
